The cooking method varies depending on the cut. Generally, high-marbling cuts like Ribeye and Flat Iron Steak are best cooked with high-heat methods like grilling or pan-searing, while leaner cuts like Shoulder Steak benefit from slow-cooking methods like braising. American Wagyu refers to cattle that are crossbred between Japanese Wagyu and American Angus or other American beef breeds. The result is beef that combines the exceptional marbling of Wagyu genetics with the more robust muscle structure of American breeds. This makes American Wagyu ideal for a variety of cuts and cooking methods.


The term “Wagyu” simply means “Japanese cow” and refers to several breeds of Japanese cattle known for their unique marbling. American Wagyu is produced using these Wagyu genetics but is bred and raised in the United States, often in combination with American beef breeds like Angus. Therefore, while it’s not Japanese, it’s called Wagyu to indicate the type of genetics that contribute to its premium quality.
