Prep Time: 30 minutes Cook Time: 20 minutes Total Time: 50 minutes Serves: 12 hamantaschen

Ingredients:

For the Dough:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 cup sugar

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and diced

  • 1 large egg

  • 2-3 tablespoons cold water

For the Wagyu Beef Filling:

  • 1/2 lb Wagyu beef, minced

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 1/2 teaspoon fresh rosemary, chopped

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Dough:

    • In a large bowl, mix flour, salt, and sugar. Add the chilled butter and use your fingers to combine until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

    • Stir in the egg. Gradually add cold water, one tablespoon at a time, until the dough comes together. Form into a disk, wrap in plastic, and chill for at least 1 hour.

  2. Make the Wagyu Beef Filling:

    • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté onions and garlic until translucent.

    • Add the minced Wagyu beef and rosemary. Cook until the beef is browned. Season with salt and pepper. Let the mixture cool down.

  3. Assemble the Hamantaschen:

    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

    • Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness. Use a round cookie cutter or a glass to cut circles.

    • Place a small amount of the Wagyu beef filling in the center of each circle.

    • To form the hamantaschen, fold the dough in three parts over the filling to form a triangle, leaving the center open.

  4. Baking:

    • Place the hamantaschen on the prepared baking sheet. Lightly brush the dough with egg wash.

    • Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes or until golden brown.

  5. Serve and Enjoy:

    • Allow the hamantaschen to cool on a wire rack. Serve warm or at room temperature.

These Wagyu Beef Hamantaschen blend traditional Jewish pastry with the luxury of Wagyu beef, creating a unique and savory treat perfect for Purim celebrations or any special occasion. Enjoy this fusion of flavors that brings a gourmet twist to a beloved classic.
